The reason for voyaging up north last week was to see Dalston show. Dalston is the village in Cumbria where my folks live and it was good to be able to take the kids up and join in.
They have a week of festivities which culminates in an agricultural show and a festival parade. It has a Scarecrow competition which has inspired me to do something like it in Kingsway, but needs a new twist.
This is my parents Scarecrow, the crashed Red Arrow:
my Dad is part of the festival committee and was a walker in the parade, he also got second prize with his costume (no he is not the copper!)
Overall a good day and had fun. Also came back with lots of ideas for next year 🙂
