I have been accused of writing “good old spin” in my time, but I have to take my hat off to the City Council in an announcement on their website today regarding the Green Waste service.
Gloucester Residents can now take part in a New Garden Waste Service. in this New service, the City Council will come and take away your green waste on a fortnightly basis.
“But they do that already” I hear you cry, well, yes they do, but they will now also take away an annual fee of £36. But you should get a sticker for your bin to show you have paid.
My wife and I were talking about this and we figure by replacing the small lawn we have at the back with something child friendly and non organic (play bark and gravel) we will not need the green bin, and our plant cuttings and the like can go to Hempsted. Its not a particularly Green approach, but its cheaper, and we get to hand back the green bin and make a bit more space in the garden for the other recycling boxes.
So welcome to the New (Old) recycling scheme, I await with interest to see if the level of recycling goes up, as has been claimed by the Conservative Councillors.

Have to agree with you here. Pure spin
Back to my composter!
How do we return our green bins?
I would ring up the council on the Here-to-help line 01452 396396., or email them at [email protected]
You may also want to email your local councillor to, to tell them why your returning it too! Give them a dose of reality!
