Kingsway Residents public meeting – and standing down as Chair.

by Barry

In the sweltering heat of yesterday evening, we held another Kingsway Residents Public Meeting.  In Kingsway School, with all the doors and windows open, neighbours came along to hear what we had been up to, what we were going to be doing and, unbeknownst to them, to find out that I am standing down from the Association in November at the AGM.

It was another successful night, though with a lower turnout than usual, I assume that the lure of a BBQ or an evening in the garden was just too much in this great weather we are having, but there was still more than turned up to the Parish Annual Assembly (not that there is any competition or anything).

We reviewed what we had been doing since the last public meeting as well as catching up on progress with things like the new school, the Asda proposal as well as things like the way Policing will be affected in the future.  We also covered future events such as the Kingsway, A village in bloom competition and what we are doing for Halloween.

We also had a presentation from Dave Talbot who is the new editor of the Quedgeley News and the Project Manager from QUVL gave us an update of major building works and other progress to date.

I finished by encouraging people to join the committee a the AGM in November by self nomination.  I also announced that after 4 years of chairing the Association, I am standing down from the Committee.  This is for two reasons, firstly I think it could do with someone else leading it do enable it to develop and grow, and secondly because of other commitments I have, and the success of this year, it seems an appropriate time to hand over the reigns to someone else.  It has been a great 4 years, and I obviously will not stop my work int he community as it is such a big and enjoyable part of my life, I will just be doing it in different ways.

So here is to delivering the events up to November and if you want to be involved in the RA committee, please get in touch 🙂
