CHELTENHAM, ENGLAND - MAY 23: Olympic torchbearer Zara Phillips arrives on her horse Toy Town as she brings Olympic flame to Cheltenham Racecourse on May 23, 2012 in Cheltenham, England. The Olympic Flame arrived in the UK last Friday and is now on day five of a 70-day relay involving 8,000 torchbearers covering 8,000 miles. (Image credit: Getty Images via @daylife)

I met the Family at Cheltenham Racecourse this evening to see Zara Phillips and Toytown bring the Olympic flame to the huge crowd of people waiting to their little piece of Olympic History.

I was very impressed with all the organisation at the event, Parking was very easy and the staff around were brilliant at getting you where you needed to be.

As Amanda and the Kids had got there earlier, I met them from work and had a quick look around what they had been doing in the mini Olympic village showcasing sports.  Then we lined up and got our photo taken with an Olympic Torch, so we got to hold one of the torches (hopefully will get that online tomorrow).

I really enjoyed the event, much more than I thought I would and I think a huge round of thanks must go to all those involved int he organisation.  I hope those watching the same thing in Gloucester tomorrow enjoy it as much as we did tonight.

It was fantastic in Gloucester as well Barry. I did wonder if many would turn up as it was so early in the morning, but we had a very good crowd. Pics and video here – http://www.visit-gloucestershire.co.uk/boards/topic/10686-the-olympic-torch-in-gloucester/
