It had to happen at some point, some government policy had to come out that I find I agree with!
I am being a bit sarcastic as there is some stuff they are doing that I do agree with, however you can’t get away from the fact the timing is rubbish!
Anyway, back to the point.
I think this is a good start, but only the Daily Mail could make this a bad thing with the headline “Drive to help women workers breastfeed in the office: Firms will be asked to provide special rooms, fridges AND extra time off” – Like doing the best for your children is a bad thing. I don;t see them campaigning to stop smoke breaks!
I think this quote from Mr Lansley shows understanding ”
“Breastfeeding is one of the best ways to give babies good health, but our society doesn’t always make it easy for new mums to do it. We want to make it easier for new mums to breastfeed.
If we can make it easier more mums would breastfeed and they might do it for longer, giving their children the best start in life.”
Anyway – I hope this drive to encourage more breastfeeding continues. It should be second nature and the first choice, and if we can help take down the barriers, then so much the better.
